Communicating via Blog

Communication is one the most important thing in our life. We need to use communication tools and channels to communicate others. Communication can’t without the tools and channels. The effective communication tools and channels can make our easy and accurate. Blog is one of the greatest communication tools.
This blog is my first blog, and I think the blog has been as a communications tool not only for this class, but also out of this class. It is a very cool and useful tool which I use in my studying.
75 minutes in one class is not enough to communicate everyone, but blog is a great tool to extend the communicating. The blog is a good way to communicate all the classmates after class. I learned from others a lot by using the blog.
In additional, the blog assignment provides the chance let us rethink and analyze the class activities. Everyone can share the class activities experience and make a comment to each other. The blog just likes the record of the class activities.
We also can read several management topics through the professor’s blog. The topics were not directly related to the course but very useful. I like some topics like Become Friends with your Time, How to Become Smarter and tips to rock your career. I learn a lot from those. I feel it is enough, but I still can read more. The more I read, the better I will be.
There are 20% of our grade come from the blog. It is very cool, because it is not only the assignment but it is a blog. I hope it can help my grade because I didn’t do well at two mid-term exams. I very disappoint my performance in the mid-term exams, so I try my best to do well in the blog.
I am sure that I will continue to post your thoughts or ideas on my blog after this class has ended. Blog is a good communication tools and platform. I also agree the blog remain a component of this course.

I am C-D

What is C-D? It is represents the personal information. According to the DISC Personal Profile System, C represents Conscientiousness, and D represents Dominance. I got my type after I answer 28 questions. I got my highest intensity in type C, and the second highest intensity is type D. I think the test accurately gauges my management orientation, and they represent what I am.
In the interpretation, type C people is on working conscientiously within existing circumstances to ensure quality and accuracy. I am a person who highly requires quality and accuracy. In addition, I usually do my task follow by the policies and procedure. I like analyze question and sometimes thinks it deeply. Therefore, I think I got the right type in the test. I don’t wish I were other type because I don’t like to influence or persuade others which is type I. I might become another type, but I can’t perform it as well as I original type.
I agree that use DISC to determine people’s management “type” is to better understand where they are coming from is useful. It is useful for the company to choose the people fit their company’s strategy. In additional, a test like this can help us in other personal interactions. However, I don't mean that use DISC as a main standard or guideline to choose the employee or teammate because the test is not 100% correct and there are many effect factor in the real working environment.

Special Order, Special Experience



A successful company should know and satisfy what their customers’ need and want. Therefore, many companies spend many resources for their marketing to know what customers’ need and want. Many companies even offer customized product to satisfy customers’ personal need and want.
McDonald’s is the most famous fast food restaurant in the world. McDonald’s offer varied food to satisfy people’s need and want. For example, McDonald never sale salads before, but they begin to offer the salads several years ago to satisfy the people who want to eat healthily. However, I didn’t know McDonald’s also offer their customer order some special order until I receive this assignment. My job is order one small hamburger with exactly four pickles on it and one small order of French fries well done with no salt. In additional, I need to get a receipt which reflects this exact special order.
At April 08, 2010, I went to McDonald’s locate at 167 Chambers, New York. I wait about 2 minutes and began to said my special order at 16:41. I said, Good afternoon, I want to order one small hamburger with exactly four pickles on it and one small order of French Fries. The cashier repeated my order to let me confirm it. She looks not very sure my order. After I said yes, she went to talk to other staff in the back the make the order. Then she come back to ask, please $2.18. I said would you print me the receipt which reflects this exact special order. She changed money and gave me the receipt, but it didn’t reflect the French fries with no salt. I said, would you print the French fries with no salt on the receipt. She said, she couldn’t print it. I said, my friend order a same order last time and get a receipt which reflects this exact special order last time, would you ask someone to help you? Then one guy came to ask what I want and said he only can write down what I order because they don’t have keyboard to type it. I asked are you manger? He answered yes. At the end, I ask him to write down the no salt and he initialed it. The time is 16:48. It cost about 7 minutes and process by 3 staff the complete everything. I was treated friendly by the cashier not by the manager during ordering and waiting.
The order completed correctly. I will rate 85 of 100 for staff’s management process in my order. Effectiveness of the manufacturing process is good. The cashier goes to ask other staff to make the order before ask me get the money and change. The organization and communications are good because they work as a team, the manager support the cashier and the order completed correctly. If the order cost a little shorter time, I will rate the efficiency of their customer service better. At the end, I would like to recommend McDonald’s should repare some pen to their staffs because the manager took more than 30 seconds to get a pen to write the order on my receipt.
However, I find out the receipt only show no salt French fries but miss well done. Therefore, I went to the other McDonald locate at 26 Bowery, New York at April 23. I order the same special order. The cashier processes the order very similar as last time, but I will rate them 95 of 100 because they just use 4 minutes to completed the order correctly by 2 staffs. The cashier just wrote down what I order by her. One of the special of their communications is the staff speaks Spanish to each. I just want recommendation they should speak English that the customer will know how they process the order.
According to my experience of visiting two McDonald’s stores to order the special order. I think McDonald’s can do what their customers’ need and want, and the efficiency and accurateness are necessary for a fast food restaurant.

Vision and Action

I don't know what I will do in the future, but I want to be a person who make a greater contribution to humanity and world. I want to help the children who don't have chance the get education be able to go to school. Of course, I need to have a good salary job after I graduate from college and a good way to manage the money and time. Therefore, I should study harder learn more skill in college.
I am interested in automobile When I was 10 years old, and my dream car is Ferrari. I hope I can own a Ferrari before 40 years old. I also want to be a automobile designer and design the safety and eco-friendly car. However, it is not connect to my current major. Will I face turn in the future?
I love the earth we are living and the different custom and culture in different in the world. Therefore, I want to travel with my families to as much as place we can.

Decision Making

We have a very interesting and important class activity after our mid-term exam. Professor gave the chances for the whole class to make the decision of how to count the first midterm grade and the format of the second midterm.
I think it is a good chance for everyone in the class. The classmates will be able to minimise their short at the first test and maximise their long at the second test. However, Professor required our decision must vote and Pass by everyone in the class. I think 100% Passed is not that easy, but I think we can try.
At the begining, it is chaotic in the class because everyone raise the different opinion. It changed after one classmate steped up and lead the decision making. I chose collaborating in the decision. I think we must bargaining and negotiation to get 100% Passed. At the end we 100% pass two decisiones which are droping the lowest of the 2 midterms and count the higher as 40% of our final grade, and extra credit to be added onto the higher grade. I think that is fair and benefit to everyone because it give the chance to the classmate who didn't do well at the first test, but it doesn't affect the grade for the classmates who did well at the first test.
The second decision is what's the formate of the secend exam. I think it's easier to raise a 100% passed proposal than the first one. However, it doesn't likes I thought. Many people want to drop the multiple multiple choice. When Rosita and me vote down, everyone looked at us and asked why. However, many pople agree us after Rosita explain the benefit of multiple multiple choice. Many people also want to drop the essay question, but about five people vote down. I raise my opinion that make the essay question as the optional(bonus) at the test. I saw that five people who against drop the essay question agree my opinion, but there come out five new dissenter. At the end, we fail to make any decision for the second test.
It is a usful class activity and let me understand the decision making.

An Eggs-cellent Way to Plan

The class activity on eggs-cellent planning in last week is interesting and unforgettable. There are six people in our team. Our team is not succeed at building an effective egg protector, but we are very close to get it. Our egg was broke at second impact.
Our team actually go through the steps of define the goals and objective, determine the resources and current status vis-รก-vis objectives, develop several alternative strategies, and implement the plan and evaluate results.
However, we didn't do well at the step of make a tactical plan. We didn't allocate jobs or roles throughout the team.I think we bypass to choose the leader at the beginning. Everyone just focus at how to make the effective egg protector.
We explained the ideas and used the little ball of paper to pattern the egg drop down and used the pens to pattern the straws. I also explain my idea. My idea is connecting the straws like "#" and surround the egg. I believe it will make the straw stronger according to the experience of I watch the video and analysis of car crash experiment. My teammate all accept my idea. I also think the connection point is very important. We begin to think about how to use the tape to connect the straws. After we get the material to make the protector, we realize we didn't allocate jobs or roles. Therefore, we wasted the time at assign the job and didn't finish the egg protector.
After our teammate drop the egg, our egg land safety but broke at the second impact. We failed at the end, but I am still proud of my team. This is one of my unforgettable class.
